How Can I Get A Spa Pamper Day At Home?
The word pamper is defined as indulging in comfort, relaxation, and attention.
Here’s my preparation checklist:
Tidy-Up
There is no way I can relax in a messy and unclean environment, so the day before, I tidy up.
Turn Off Your Communication From The Outside World
Answering business emails or dealing with your friend’s drama is not on the schedule.
Aromatherapy
Begin by setting the right mood and creating a spa-like feeling by turning on your favorite candle or using an oil diffuser.
Gather Your Supplies
Here’s a confession once I land on a product that I love, I stick to it; however, I will always keep testing the new beauty products because “What If” something out there is better.
The following products are ones that are my staples and ones I feel I could highly recommend. My hair color and manicure brands have not changed in over four years.

DIY Professional Hair Color At Home
Okay, I have an obsession with hair products. Over the years, if it claimed to tame, curl, or bring vibrance back into my hair – I’ve probably purchased it!
However, I have never or would never trust my hair to any out-of-the-box hair dye.
Further, I would never walk into a hair salon for color treatment ever again.
Been there, done that, and I get better results myself.
Sorry, not sorry!
Here’s my trick, I order a professional hair color, which is created custom for me and mixed by a licensed professional.
A week before my next shipment, I receive an email as a reminder, and I’m able to change the Color if desired.
Further, my colorist can receive a photo uploaded to my profile along with notes of my requests. I could even reference a model or famous actress’s hair with my desired hair shade. (I haven’t changed my Color in over three years.)
I believe that’s worth its weight in goal; however, this at-home spa day idea will set you back a whopping $15 bucks. And you receive free consultations for life.
Do I recommend all their products? Their DIY Hair Color dye is my go-to and staple.
Tricks To Master Your Gel Manicure
I have probably used every gel manicure brand out there, and here is the combination that allows my manicures to stay put for at least three weeks!
I use the professional Gelish brand polish, which is sold on Amazon.
Although I occasionally have purchased single Gelish Colors from eBay, I have found the products to be older, making the polish bumpy when applied.
You do not need to purchase the Gelish brand UV light. However, if you’re starting off, it’s less costly to buy this kit.
If you have trouble with the polish lifting, use your nail file to buff the area near your cuticles.
Apply the Gelish primer and then (this is a MUST for me – most women could skip this extra step) apply an extra primer before your Gelish foundation.
It took me some practice; however, your polish needs to be applied in VERY thin coats.
How To Wax At Home
Many of us women have been forced to take charge of our own beauty routines and grooming. So, after testing out a few hair removal products, I decided to ask for a professional’s assistance.
To my surprise, the leader in professional wax sells to the general public. WHAT?!
And after testing some of their products, there is NO COMPARISON when trying them against over-the-counter waxes.
In the past, I had steered away from waxing because the few brands I tried were PAINFUL.
But to my surprise, when using their facial wax, it was less painful than even tweezing. If you’re seeking to tidy up your facial areas, this is my go-to kit.
And here I thought I had a low pain threshold all along….silly me.
Now, it goes without saying that we choose estheticians because of their experience since they are trained regarding the temperature and thickness of the wax to be applied to an area.
However, if you are looking to wax large areas such as your legs, my licensed esthetician pointed me to using a roll-on application.
Her explanation was simple professional roll-on applicators distribute wax in an even and thin application allowing for minimal discomfort when removing.
Easy DIY Recipes For Your Home Spa Day Retreat
For the ultimate sugar scrub, a few things are needed, namely oil, sugar, and a few essential oil drops.
Sugar Scrub Recipe
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup organic cane sugar
- 8-15 drops of your favorite essential oil such as lavender, lemongrass, etc.
- 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
- *Optional for those of us that have dry skin
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine room-temperature coconut oil with cane sugar.
- Next, add in your essential oil and vitamin E oil if desired.
- Transfer the mixture into an airtight container and seal it tightly. The mixture can be stored at room temperature for up to sixty days.
To prevent bacteria, do not introduce moisture into the jar.
Use a wooden spoon to portion out the mixture into your hand, no double-dipping, and remember to seal the jar tightly.
Spa-Like Room Spray Recipe
- Mini fine mist spray bottle
- 2 Tablespoons of Vodka
- Filtered or purified water
- 10 Drops of essential oils
- Pour the Vodka into a small glass spray bottle. Add a few drops of your desired essential oils.
- Let the oils sit for several minutes, and then shake well.
- Next, add the water.
- Give it a good shake and enjoy.
Essential oils can work through way through plastic; therefore, a glass spray bottle is recommended.
The strength of your mixture is totally up to you. Play around with the number of essential oil drops added and write down your ratios. Once you nailed down the recipe, you’ll want to recreate it.
Easy At Home Spa Day Kits and Ideas
Lately, if I’m not in the mood to make my own products I do purchase some pre-made treatments from my favorite Etsy sellers.
Since I have sensitive skin and I’m prone to eczema outbreaks, I’m careful when recommending skin products.
